EMBRACE YOUR FACE
Taking a moment to face the camera head-on can make some of us really uncomfortable. As evidenced below, I know the feeling. We're inundated with messages about how to look like other people. Why not just embrace our own faces? I worked closely with photographer, Francesco Sapienza, on all of the product photography for eataly.com, and when he landed a studio on Wall Street, he came to me with an idea about head shots that make people feel good. "Why do most of us hide from the camera? Why is there such a distance between the shortcomings the subject sees and the possibilities the photographer sees?" We created Embrace Your Face to help everyone face their fear and build a personal brand through a photoshoot experience that's fun, relaxed and affordable. I conceived the company name, mission and brand language and oversaw every step of the website design and development. I manage content across all social media channels, ideating and executing campaigns to increase brand awareness and to drive conversions. My face? I've embraced it. After all, it's mine and no one else's.
“This experience was one of the coolest, affirming moments I’ve ever had. And I’m not exaggerating. The feelings of apprehension and even self-doubt gave way to a sense of ‘hey you know, I’m really glad that the way that I see myself and want to be seen is actually how it is.’ And all of this happened in a matter of 35 minutes. There wasn’t any awkwardness of selfie shame. I didn’t have to worry about the angle of the phone or contorting my fingers to get the shot. It was just me being me.”
